Monomorium draxocum Bolton
Type location Cameroun (Bolton, 1987: 385, not
illustrated); collected at Nko'emvon (D.A. Jackson, 25.xi.1980);
holotype and 5 paratype workers from same collection, plus 3
workers from the locality but earlier (6.x.1980); otherwise
recorded from Buea (B. Malkin)

WORKER - TL 1.7-1.9 mm; with sharply developed clypeal carinae,
which are widely separated and near parallel, carinae not
projecting forward of margin but the latter is sharply defined and
no more than feebly concave; antennal scapes quite long (SI 106);
colour head and alitrunk dark brown, gaster black; legs much
lighter, pale yellow to colourless.
Elsewhere from Gabon, Plateau d'Ipassa (J.A. Barra) and
Angola, Dundo, Carrisso Pk (L. de Carvalho) (Bolton,
1987). Since found in Ghana, 5 workers, in primary forest leaf
litter at Mankrang Forest Reserve and Jachie, by Belshaw &
Bolton (1994b). |
