Diagnostic Features - Antennae 9-segmented. Palp formula 3,3. Monomorphic species with the head heart-shaped in full-face view. Eyes situated very close to the lateral margins of the head.
Snelling (1979b) revised the Tribe and added Petalomyrmex to the
known arboreal African genera. Only the single species is known. His genus
