The reduction of monardi from species to "stirps"
or subspecies by Santschi (1937d, he uses both in the same
sentence) is accompanied by the note that monardi is a
little bigger and the head more reticulate behind. |
The
photomontage is of a minor specimen from Congo,
Brazzaville, t 1.15; 19.viii.2007; 24 h pitfall trap; collected
Yves Braet & Eric Zassi. This appears to match the "variety"
pellax and to differ quite significantly from the type,
notably in being much smaller, which matches the Santschi
statement of size.
